The Bengals have claimed DT Travis Bell off Waivers from the Atlanta Falcons.
Bell is a rookie 7th round pick out of Kennesaw State, initially drafted by the Chicago Bears. They kept him on the practice squad for the first half of the season, before the Atlanta Falcons eventually plucked him for their 53 man roster. The 6’1”, 305 lb rookie appeared in 2 games with the Falcons, making 2 tackles.
This addition is in response to DJ Reader’s season ending injury. The Bengals were previously unsuccessful in their attempt to claim Teair Tart the other day, so they pivoted to Bell. While Tart is a veteran who is more proven in this league, Bell looks like more of a developmental run stuffer, who does have some athletic upside. For now, he is likely to play behind guys like Josh Tupou, Jay Tufele, and Zach Carter.
