The Bengals have made a string of roster moves this week, with the most notable one being the addition of CB Tre Flowers.

Flowers was claimed off waivers after he was cut by the Seattle Seahawks. He was originally a 5th round pick by Seattle in 2018 and converted from safety to CB shortly after the draft. He earned a starting spot as a rookie and kept it throughout the next few years. That being said, his play wasn’t all that good. After a rocky start in 2021, the Seahawks decided to part ways.

The Bengals were in the market for some CB depth after they placed Trae Waynes on IR. Waynes ends up back where he has spent most of his tenure with the Bengals. He had returned to play in two games, but unfortunately aggravated his hamstring injury against the Packers.

The Bengals have also placed OL D’Ante Smith on IR. He seemed to be in the mix to start this week, before Jackson Carman was removed from the covid list. But it seems like he suffered an injury in practice. It is a meniscus injury that will require surgery to repair.

Staying with the theme of IR transactions, but this time a positive one, the Bengals have designated DE Khalid Kareem for return off IR. This opens a three week window in which he can practice without counting towards the roster limit. The team can activate him anytime as long as it is within the window.

The team has also made a few changes to the practice squad. They have signed former Eagles RB Elijah Holyfield, as well as CB Holton Hill. As mentioned earlier, the Bengals have been in the CB market, so this move does not come as a surprise. Additionally, with Mixon still a little banged up and Perine currently on the covid list, the addition of a RB to the practice squad also makes sense. To make room, P Drue Chrisman has been released from the practice squad.
