The Bengals have claimed C Lamont Gaillard off waivers from the Arizona Cardinals
Gaillard stands at 6’3″, 305 lbs. In college, he started three seasons at C for Georgia, and was teammates with recent Bengals draft pick, Trey Hill, for some of that time.
He was a 6th round draft pick of the Cardinals in 2019 and managed to find his way into 13 games this past year, with 2 of them being starts.
Gaillard was a necessary depth addition to the C room, as the Bengals needed another body to go through the drills in camp. Trey Hopkins will likely need a bit more time to complete his rehab and, even once he does, will need some time to ease back into things.
Lamont Gaillard will likely start out camp at the bottom of the depth chart, behind the likes of Billy Price and Trey Hill. While you do not want to count anyone out, it will be a tough task for him to make the team. He does, however, have a shot at making the practice squad if he is able to show enough in training camp and the preseason.
