The Bengals have officially trimmed their roster down to the 53 man limit, after getting started on it a few days ago when they waived Jackson Carman and several others. There are still some moves to be made, but this is how things look initially.

This is only the initial 53 man roster. This could change in the next day or two if the Bengals make any waiver claims.
Jalen Davis is the most interesting cut. The reliable veteran had another solid preseason, and had been good depth for the slot. This leaves the CB room with 5 standing members, while DJ Ivey remains on the PUP list. Maybe Davis is kept on the practice squad. As a veteran, he does not need to pass through waivers.
Zach Carter making the roster does not surprise me, given his draft pedigree. However, he did not have a good preseason, and may be on thin ice.
LB Shaka Heyward has been waived, but is reportedly a big priority to keep on the practice squad. S PJ Jules and WR Shedrick Jackson are also names who the Bengals reportedly want to keep on the practice squad.
Myles Murphy and Brad Robbins are both on IR and are candidates to return after the minimum 4 games. Murphy will return if healthy. However, a good string of games from Ryan Rehkow could spell the end for Brad Robbins.
The Bengals are expected to announce their initial practice squad tomorrow, after the cuts clear waivers. We’ll see, also, if they make any claims.
