The Bengals have started the week off with a few transactions. OT Isaiah Prince has been activated off of IR, while WR Mike Thomas has been waived, and LB Tegray Scales has been released from the practice squad.

Prince had been on IR since September. He picked up an elbow injury in the preseason that forced him to miss the first two and a half months of the season. Prince served as the swing tackle last year, and started at RT once Riley Reif went down. This includes the playoffs and Super Bowl. With Hakeem Adeniji looking good in limited moments off the bench, it remains to be seen where Prince ends up on the depth chart. But, as we have seen over the past few years, the Bengals are high on him.

Mike Thomas was waived to make room for Prince on the roster. Though, it is interesting that he was the one to be waived. Thomas has played an important role on special teams, and offers some speed at receiver. That said, a couple of drops seem to have put him in the doghouse, and Trent Irwin’s solid performance against the Steelers may have made the team comfortable enough to move him up a spot.

Scales was signed by the Bengals to their practice squad part-way through last year. They liked him enough to bring him back in the offseason, and he was able to earn a practice squad spot out of camp. His release likely comes in anticipation of Mike Thomas clearing waivers. Should he clear, Thomas will likely end up on the practice squad.
