The Bengals were back at it on Monday for day 5 of training camp. Out of this, we saw more plays being made, and also got some important injury updates. This was the final padless practice, with the pads set to come on tomorrow.
Sam Hubbard left with a knee injury yesterday. Word after that practice is that he would be fine, and nothing had changed today. Zac Taylor said it is nothing serious, and that he is day to day. Fellow DE Trey Hendrickson is also day to day, according to Taylor.
Zac Taylor also gave an update on Trent Brown, stating that he should be good to go in “a couple more days.”
As for Cam Taylor-Britt, who recently had his tonsils removed, was limited today, and is expected to be back going full at practice tomorrow.
On the negative side, DE Jeffrey Gunter went off limping after a play. Hopefully it is nothing too serious.
One of the highlights from today’s practice was a down the field TD pass from Logan Woodside to Charlie Jones. Woodside hit Jones, who had beaten Lance Robinson, in the back corner of the endzone. Another highlight was a scrambling Jake Browning finding Mike Gesicki in the endzone.
After hearing a lot about Chase Brown the last few days, we say a few more snaps from Zack Moss with the 1’s. He was praised by Zac Taylor for his hard running style.
Another thing noted by Zac Taylor was the improved communication that he has seen in the defence since Vonn Bell’s return. This was an issue last year, with a lot of youth in the secondary. Adding in veterans like Bell and Geno Stone seems to have helped things along.
On special teams, they were once again working on their kickoffs, and getting things straightened out with the new rules and formation. They also took some time at the end of practice to give Evan McPherson a series of attempts. He went 6/6.
The Bengals took it a bit easier today. Things are expected to ramp up tomorrow, with the pads coming on for the first time.
