WR is the position group on offence with the best depth, up and down. On defence, it might be safety.

Jessie Bates headlines the unit. Although he hasn’t always gotten the recognition that he deserves, he has developed into one of, if not, the best safety in the NFL. His range and ability to patrol the field should continue to be a strong point on the Bengals defence in this coming year.

Vonn Bell will start alongside Bates, but in more of a SS role. He does not have the same coverage ability as Bates, but he is a strong tackler and can help against the run. He should see a decent amount of snaps down low in the box.

Not much has been said of Ricardo Allen since he signed with the Bengals, but at this time, it seems pretty safe to assume that he will be the third safety on the depth chart. He has had some good seasons as a starter for the Falcons, and his experience will be valuable. In addition to safety, it would not be a surprise to see him get some snaps in the slot.

Brandon Wilson currently sits fourth on the depth chart, but regardless, is a lock to make the roster because of his ability as a kick returner. He doesn’t have a ton of playing experience, outside of special teams, but his athleticism gives him the chance to grow into a solid player. While he likely won’t be relied on unless injuries hit, it would be nice to see some growth from him on the defensive side of the ball.

Trayvon Henderson was signed by the Bengals in 2018 as an undrafted free agent. He has shown some solid flashes in preseason games and the Bengals clearly see something they like, considering he has stuck around for a few years. However, it has been tough for him to consistently stick on the roster, and he has spent a lot of time on the practice squad. With the Bengals depth at safety, more time on the practice squad, with call ups in between, could be how his year shapes up.

Rounding out the group is Kavon Frazier. He was signed late in May, and will be a long shot to crack the roster. He could be competing with Henderson for a spot on the practice squad.
