Former Bengals DT Christian Covington is heading up north to the CFL, signing with his hometown BC Lions.
Covington was originally a 6th round pick of the Houston Texans in 2015. After a stint with the Cowboys in 2019, he was traded to the Bengals prior to the start of the 2020 season by the Broncos, in exchange for LB Austin Calitro.
Covington suited up in 16 games that year for the Bengals, starting 14 of them. He registered 39 tackles that season.
After his time in Cincinnati, Covington spent time with the Chargers and Detroit Lions.
Now, he will be playing for the BC Lions, who drafted him 43rd overall in the 2015 CFL Draft, and retained his rights for nearly a decade afterwards. With the Grey Cup being hosted in Vancouver this season, it will be a unique opportunity for Covington to win it on home soil, with his hometown team.
