Bengals sign TE Zach Gentry to the practice squad.

Gentry was originally a 5th round pick by the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2019. He has appeared in 40 games with the Steelers, starting 26 of them. Over that span, he caught 39 passes for 303 yards, and was generally solid as a blocker.

The 6’8” TE is the second one to be signed to the Bengals practice squad. Gentry joins Tanner Hudson, who was somewhat surprisingly left off of the 53 man roster

For now, it is Irv Smith, Drew Sample, and Mitchell WIlcox on the 53 man roster. All three have dealt with their share of injuries over the last few seasons. With Hudson, and now Gentry, the Bengals have some experienced depth on the practice squad that they can call upon to contribute in a pinch.

With Gentry being added, the Bengals have now filled all 16 spots on the practice squad. Though, as the season goes on, there will certainly be a lot of shuffling to the practice squad.
