News on workouts has been a bit quieter than usual this year. However, there was news on a couple from this week. According to reports, the Bengals had QB Nathan Rourke and WR Tyshaun James in for workouts.

Rourke had a breakout season this past year in the CFL with the BC Lions, his first as a starter, and 2nd in the league. Despite missing 8 games due to a foot injury, he passed for 3349 yards and threw 25 TD passes to only 10 interceptions. Beyond the stats, Rourke has made some tremendous improvements since his college days with the Ohio Bobcats. His mechanics, accuracy, and mental processing have all improved significantly, as he seems to have long term NFL potential. A handful of other teams have also had him in for workouts, including the Cleveland Browns, Kansas City Chiefs, and New York Giants.

James, meanwhile, was originally signed by the Atlanta Falcons as an undrafted free agent following the 2022 NFL Draft. He accounted for 1652 yards and 14 TD’s over his final two seasons at Central Connecticut. James, if signed, would bring some size to the receiver position.

In other news, the Bengals have recently designated S Tycen Anderson for return off IR. He is now allowed to practice, and his 21 day window to be activated is open. Should they wish to play him, the Bengals will have to activate him before the window closes, or his season will officially be over.
