The Bengals have placed TE Drew Sample on IR, and designated CB Cam Taylor-Britt and DE Khalid Kareem for return off IR.

Sample went down in week 2’s game against the Cowboys with a knee injury, and missed weeks 3 and 4. He recently underwent successful knee surgery. The TE will be required to miss a minimum of four more games, but is expected to be out long term. Sample is currently in the final year of his rookie year.

As for Taylor-Britt and Kareem, the Bengals have 21 days in which they will not count towards the roster limit. They can officially be activated at any point during that window.

Taylor-Britt is a rookie 2nd round pick. He had been very limited throughout the training camp process, before eventually landing on IR with an abdomen injury after final cuts. With Awuzie and Apple sitting atop the depth chart, he won’t be relied on to play many, if any, snaps. However, his athleticism is something that will be an asset on special teams. As well, additional depth is never a bad thing.

Kareem, like Taylor-Britt, was placed on IR just after final cuts were made. Since he was included on the initial 53 man roster, he is eligible to return. He was dealing with some stuff going into the preseason, which caused him to miss time. He saw a little action in the preseason, but picked up a hamstring injury, leading to him ending up on IR.
